Week 1

So. I've started again. I realized that keeping an exact account of what goes into my mouth was less than helpful, and incredibly dull, so I will not be doing that anymore. I will also not be recording weight lost or inches lost or any of that stuff. It will only make me obsess over the numbers and up my stress level, which is less than helpful in a weight loss program. (Also, with two kids ages 2 and under, my stress levels need no help!) Instead, I'm going to focus on getting fit and eating healthy; and try to view the pounds/inches/sizes lost as an added bonus. Benefit. Perk, even!

I'm a week into this new deliberately working out thing, and I'm enjoying the results! No, I haven't noticed anything physical, yet. It's the mental and emotional effects that have me smiling. I'm finding it easier to control my less than wonderful temper. When I do snap, it's much easier to get my control back. It's easier to brush off the little things. In short, I feel happier.

day 1; reboot

Ok, so getting pregnant kind of knocks any and all weight-loss planning off track. Completely off track. Doctors don't like it when you read a negative gain on the scale. I did that with my first, too, though it was (in both cases) a simple matter of eating smarter. Anyway, I digress.
Time to start again.

1/4 of a PB and J on whole wheat
8 oz milk
3 oreo cookies
2 packages of fruit snacks

Obviously, I need to work on my carbs to everything else ratio ... and where are the veggies and fruits?!

Oops - "Day 1"

Ok, 1 Oct 2010 was supposed to be my official "Day 1," but as you can see, that didn't happen. So here we go:

8 oz chocolate soy milk
1 honey whole wheat bagel with a thin layer of honey-almond yumminess
1/2 an asiago cheese bagel
6" roast beef sub on whole wheat with provolone, lettuce, pickles, cucumbers, olives, and a dab of honey mustard
1 brown sugar cinnamon Pop Tart
4 chicken breast strips browned in veg. oil with 3/4 cup cooked rice and corn on the cob
1 sm apple
1 York peppermint pattie
2 Oreos with an 8oz glass of 1% milk
1 liter of water

Yikes. Whole wheat and water are a good start. I guess the sub wasn't too bad.

Beginnings

I'll be 28 next month, and I'll have been fat for half my life. Overweight, fluffy, big-boned, whatever. The thought shook me. I'm an educated person. I know what this is doing to my body. I know what I should be doing. It's time to start.
